New name,new location, same noob

August 22, 2010 in EVE online by cebit

Been considering this for a long, long time. Love podlogs, but some things have been annoying me for some time, so decided to take the step and move my blog to another location.

Want to thank podlogs for hosting it and, and if you enjoyed reading this crap then come over to my new place and we can continue this adventure together. Felt that just needed a bit more freedom for it, having the possibility to have my own theme and having a bit more control of how it look made me take the final step.

Hope to see you there.

My inner carebear

August 20, 2010 in EVE online by cebit

Last few day’s have been relative slow for me. Some smaller roams, a evening camp, but really nothing spectacular in any way. Have been trying to work on my wallet balance a little so had Umbra Vipera from White Rabbits probe down some anomalies for me. He managed to find 3 radar and 2 fight sites or PLEX-es (i thing they are called), and traded over the BM’s to me. Had Cebit clear the sites, while my associate took care of the towers that needed hacked. Found some invention cores, but nothing really ground braking. Better luck next time i hope.

Docked up to re-fit my Hurricane, which i was using for clearing the red crosses, and fit 650mm artillery gun turrets instead of the 425 Auto cannons i was previously using. Thought might come in a bit more handy to try and stay a bit further away from the rat’s in the plex i planned to clear. Warped in and was greeted with fire from a few angel frigates, cruisers and 4 BS. “Easy isk” i thought working my way trough the smaller ones and as started working on the BS i remembered that i do have drones which i sent towards the BS.

Then suddenly i get a 15 min GCC timer runing. ” What the F…??”  Started  looking around in panic to see what i might have shot to get it runing. It was real slow time of day, close to dead local which it usually is early EU time, well at least in our area. “What the hell is going on here?? Someone been sneaking up on me and i maybe accidentally mistook it for a rat??”  Nope, couldn’t find anything (not that i would mind specially much if someone indeed entered my mission, this was quickly becoming boring), so proceeded to try and kill the BS thinking it might be something new CCP added, but really felt it must be something of the most brain dead new features i seen to date. You get a GCC timer for killing rat’s now???? “That is just the must stupid, retarded feature yet, which will definitely kill of the little traffic we do get into low sec” i thought as i kept taking down the Angel BS.

Noticed one of my drones taking some damage, so recalled them so could send them out again as soon see the BS’s changed their aggression to me instead. Then took a bit closer look at my drone bay. ” WTF is this crap??? 4 small repair drones and 1 medium?? Have i finally lost that little mind had?? “. Nope, i definitely saw right. Fact was that i had loaded armor repair ones for the previous thing run with some of the corpies, and had just totally forgot that still had them loaded. ” Man… i must be the biggest noob this game have seen?? ” .  Have done some really stupid things during my EVE career, but this must be some of the most retarded thing yet :-) No wonder i had a GCC runing. Well, atl now you know.. RR-ing a rat will give you GCC :-) . Good thing no one saw this, or i will never hear the end of it. :-)

Fact is that my corpies, for some reason totally unknown to me just love to bust my nut’s for every little stupid thing i manage to do (which must add have been quite many by now). The thing that seems to amuse them something special is that i apparently say “Oh shit guy’s” really often. And now i don’t mean when i have something really crappy happening to me but have somehow become a thing i just say, something i haven’t even noticed i do until a few of them (and by that i mean pretty much each and everyone of them) started joking about it. Was some talk adding it to my title, but luckily that haven’t happened… yet :-) . After they mentioned it, i realised that i do start many of my comments on TS with just that, so found this picture browsing around, and think it would be a perfect new keyboard for me, and i do need a new one anyways.Half way trough my anomaly i must have accidentally shot some trigger rat (i really have no experience doing this shit), so suddenly i find myself surrounded and up to my ears swamped by red crosses. ” Warp, war, warp you stinking.. ” i shout ot loud as i see my armor melting away, and my hy hull starting to rapidly disappear. Having a loss to NPC’s show up on the KB’s will just give the corp just more fuel to add to an already huge smack campaign they have runing on me :-) The cane manages to enter warp at 18% structure, and i draw a huge breath of relief. No Ceb meal for you this morning Angels.

In the end i had to call in help from The blackdog to help me finish off the plex. Not been trying many of those before, and not even sure what difficulty level it had, but can say it took us close to 2 hours finishing it off and i can’t recall if ever done something this challenging that’s NPC related.

And the rewards of wasting 2-3 hours shooting Angel rats??? A total of around 10-11 mil each in bounties, and a domination 650mm artillery cannon. The 3 radar sites did prior to the plex gave around 50m in invention multiplier pad’s and some skill books, and took maybe a hour (if even that) to finish off, so if indeed decide will give anomalies another go in the future, those are what will keep my eyes out for mainly. For the moment i have reached my limits of what can take nurturing my inner carebear. Need to find some other means of filling up my wallet again. Donations anyone???? :-)

A morning hunt

August 18, 2010 in EVE online by cebit

Just read mynxee’s blog and i must just say, man am i impressed. The stubbornness and patience she shows in dealing with CCP and her involvement with the work of CSM is just impressive. I’m openly admitting she is a 100 times better person than me. Been trying to follow up a bit more on the work of CSM the last few days, and the more i read the more irritated and frustrated i got. And i don’t even have to deal with any correspondence with CCP, but still i feel i would have just given up and just walked away from that whole damn thing. Have understood they are making some progress, may it be in small baby steps still but at least it goes forward, but still believe i personally would as mentioned, just walked away and let CCP try and sort their problems and  frustrations a big part of their subscribers  feel.

If they feel they taken the right direction, then so be it. Yes, i love EVE and it would make me unimaginably sad to see it die, but whats the point of  bashing your head bloody repeatedly trying to make them aware of the share amount of frustration and anger brewing amongst the EVE players. They seem to have decided upon what direction they are taking, and it seems impossible to get them to move an inch into compromising. It’s their game after all. All we can do,(and from what i have seen that some people already have started doing) is protest the only way we can, by not re-subscribing. I’m not there yet, but i have another 18 months in front of me to get there. The more i read about the uphill fight all the peeps in CSM does, the more my respect for them grows. Keep up the good work, there’s a reason you sit in that chair and not me :-)

Oh, and Mynxee have decided to get back into piracy again. So watch it out there, one of the most famous hunters will once again make the spacelanes unsafe.

Jumped into one of my favorite ships earlier today, the mighty jaguar and decided upon just taking it for a spin around the region and see what trouble i could stir up. Entering hadozeko i saw that The Black dog obviously had the same idea, and he was in the process of probing a mission running rupture pilot down. Unfortunately for us downtime was rapidly approaching and the rupture seemed to have docked up with 12 minutes left. So we decided to do the same for now.

30 min later i hear BD’s voice over Com’s. -” Ceb, you there??”Answered him i was and he notified me he had the mission runner back in system and that he seemed to be running his mission again. Decided that i would hold at the login screen for now, so wouldn’t just spook the guy into docking up again. He had a 80% hit on him already anyways, so i might just as well wait those few seconds extra until he did his work.

-” Have a 100% hit now, log in and join my fleet”. Said and done. I undock and warp to him after which i get instantly warped towards the rupture. We land at a mission gate which we immediately activate. The gate  hurls us towards the mission pocket, and we land (to our big disappointment) 180 km from our intended target. “Damn.. burn Ceb, burn. Lets hope he haven’t spotted us yet”. A exercise in futility, as not 4 second later the rupture warps towards one of the system stations leaving us with a :-p in local.

We warp off, each to his personal favorite scan spot in system and trying to see if we might find something else of interest. Get a rupture on scan once again, but never remembered the name of the one we were chasing so ask BD if it’s the same one. “No it isn’t” he replies. He tells me the name of our previously intended target (which i have forgotten now). In system we have 3 neutrals. The mission runner, a member of “white noise” (a alliance i heard much about and which i knew were famous for pulling of some of the better tarps i read about on CAOD), and finally a pilot called VmanJoe.

Started belt-hopping as i had some spots more just covering the general location of the clusters and couldn’t get an exact reading on a big part of the individual belt’s, and just as hit warp to next one in my list i see the rupture piloted by Vman landing 60km below me.

-” Dammit dog, he landed here with me just as i hit warp, and no way to cancel it now” i said with a disappointed voice. “Did you see where he went” dog asked, but i  just saw him disappear in an general direction not and exact belt.

-” Well, he seems to be following me, so I’ll head to 8-3 and hope he will come to me instead.” i answered as was becoming a bit tired of randomly just warping around. And i felt a need for some violence and explosions. Had fallen asleep watching a movie yesterday so my thug-o meter was in low red. Killed of the belt rat’s, hoping it would give him an impression of me being a ratter (big chance with that flashy tag i wear). Felt it might be wort a shot. Just as see the last rat frigate blowing up a rupture land’s within 45 km of me.

-” He just landed here dog, get your rifter ready and let’s try get his drones out of the way first” i said while setting an approach vector which would minimise the damage his auto-cannons would do to my tiny AF. The distance was rapidly shrinking.. 25 km, 20..15… 10 “point”.  Settled into a tight orbit, hoping my speed would keep his incoming damage at a level my ship might handle. Target drones, shoot rinse and repeat.

VmanJoe was managing his drones in a most impressive way, and several times i thought we at least killed 3 off them just to have them reappear a few seconds later. His cap neutralisers shut down my point and all other modules but  guns and the damage control, but Black dog had him pointed also by now, and he was going nowhere. Took us a good 5+ minutes before his rupture finally exploded , and must say that it’s been the best micromanagement of drones i have seen in a long time. Gf  Vman, gf.

We waited out BD’s timer (i had none as i waited for him to draw the first blood), and after we dropped the loot of a short break was decided upon. Was time for breakfast for us both anyways. Think had enough of the camps i have been running for a few days now, and it’s time to get back into doing some fun stuff again.

Watch your six out there. Who knows, suddenly you might have my little jaguar appear in your rear view mirror ready to unleash some rage upon your ship.

Pay up or.. well.. die!!

August 16, 2010 in EVE online by cebit

Yesterday was a rather lucrative day for some of us. 200m in a little over an hour is not all that bad. It had to be shared amongst a few of us ofc, but my share still ended up at around 17-18 mil, and that’s without counting in the loot share I’ll get with next paycheck :-)

Yes, i know what your thinking. your camping again Ceb, is this what have become of you??? But as i already have mentioned several times, my wallet have taken a slight dive lately, and this is the fastest way of making it move up from the red a bit :-) First thing caught was…. my god, i have absolutely no clue, but was something that died fast. Our HIC pilot shouts “point”, and the rest of us follow up, each at his own locking speed while i check the age and 8agpuss drags them into our Ransom channel and negotiates.

Props to bag’s, must say that he did an awesome job, and the first one agreed to pay 20 mil for his pod to be released while the second one unlucky enough to get into our claws got away 35 mil poorer. At Least we saved him a trip to Jita for a new set of implants, and i still believe they got of cheap-ish. Know that many think of low sec as an “easy pod save” area, and while it sure is compared to ending up in a bubble camp in null, it still isn’t risk free. Specially not when you got a highly skilled Heavy dictor guy out to get your little capsule.

Must mention, that while we were roaming earlier we encountered a HAC heavy IT alliance gang which also had 4????? yes 4 guardians with them :-) Think someone really wanted to make sure they don’t lose a ship to some low sec scumbags :-)   Really made me wonder wtf they might be doing in low sec?? Not enough targets in 0.0?? And if coming here with that fleet configuration, why the hell are they camping?? Wouldn’t it make more sense, (and deffinately way more profitable) to do that in a well trafficked null gate in case camping, or at least one connecting low to null?? Makes more sense imo for such a high profile alliance to do that. They  have thousands of corpies to call upon if things go bad. But what really surprised me most, and i mean really surprised me, is that they didn’t bring a HIC with them. Could be they had some of the HAC’s fielding a semi-fast locking setup, but if you came here to camp it makes sense bringing one. Not like IT is, (as i am) low on isk for it :-) Can’t believe i once upon a time risked ships and pod’s to help them defend their region. But that was a long time ago, and they were flying under a different ticker back then.

Yeah i know i get easily distracted writing here, but i blame to much caffeine, and i do feel like that puddycat above quite often :-)

Next in line to get into our cross-hairs was a cyclone belonging to a member of electus matari, which i believe to be a FW corp. Upon destruction of his boat the by now usual “point on pod” was announced with me checking age and bag’s negotiating. Remember saying..

-” Puss, think we might as well shot this one, the FW guy’s never pay anything”.

-” Shut it Ceb, he’s agreed to pay us 100 mil…  hold on… he’s payed, points of now”

Damn. He really payed up. That sure was a nice surprise. Makes one wonder thou what implants he might have been fielding, but if i would judge by the ship he flew I’d say high grade crystals, or maybe the highly popular (at least in low sec) high grade snakes. Well, whatever he might have had, he payed us what we asked, and we always honour our given word, so off he went to some connecting gate in the system. The last pod we snagged netted us additional 20-30 mil, so all in all not to bad for a quick hours work. What really made the evening even more fun was that we managed to catch one of the IT guy’s trying to sneak into system with his Munin, which got promptly pointed and triple webbed.

-” Hold your fire, hold fire” i said. “That’s and expensive ship he got there”. ” Bag’s, invite him and ask for at least 100 mil”. Well, you never know, it just might work 1 more time :-) He rejected the invite, but we were not quite ready to give up on some iskies just yet.

-” 100 mil and your free to warp of your ship” someone wrote into local, to what he replied with ” you fuckers can kiss my ball’s”.

How rude i  say :-) We are just trying to make an honest living out here, no need to go all genital on us. His ship got promptly turned into dust and our suppa duppa awesume HIC guy yelled “point” just a moment after that pretty explosion.

-” let’s try this again ” bagpuss wrote. “150 mil and you can keep your pod”. Now imo i think that’s a fair offer, specially after he wanted us to kiss his  coconut’s just a 30 seconds ago.  -” As i said just a moment ago, as i think you fail pirates didn’t hear me… kiss my hairy blue balls”. Hey wait a minute my  Mr.i am a super awesome 0.0 alliance member who doesn’t pay ransoms to pirates …. “you have blue ball’s???” :-) i manged to think before someone got trigger happy and vaporised his pod.

Well, we didn’t get any isk from him, but worry not my IT friend. Your corpse will still be of great use and net some of our boy’s some 500k  at least. Think some of them collects them and sells to some dude that wants to gather up some 1 million corpses (i say freeeeeaky), and is paying 500k for male and one million for female ones, so his corpse will still be of use to whoever picked it up.

Mentioned in my last post we had some bump with some Capital Storm guy’s, and while thought somehow recognised the name, most of them must have been from one of the corps with that white bird picture  in their corp picture  which threw me off a bit. It’s just that we have had an endless stream of wannabes coming here thinking they can dictate how and what we are going to do.

Well, after we returned home from a successful ISK run i see a name in local i haven’t seen in some time. Kameko Dai. This guy have been around in “our”  system since practically the first day i got here. And while he have been killing off some of our guy’s now and then, and with us returning the favor whenever possible it have always been kept on a friendly level and can say that some mutual respect ( i hope it had at least) had grown with most of them that came to visit (sorry but can’t really remember the names of some of them others atm. Have a temporary brain-lockup) . Never any local smacking or any of that shit. This evening they had gathered a 14-15 BS strong gang and for some time we got camped into our station. :-) A great fight coming up?? Well, hardly tonight at least, as we didn’t have nearly enough people on to mach their gang.

Well, long story short. We now got new friends instead. Not sure what happened there (couldn’t we wait till we first had some real nice fights ??? :-) ), but their and our boss worked something out which will be of mutual benefit. Looking forward to see how it develops.

Low moral, got tons of that

August 14, 2010 in EVE online by cebit

Last few day’s i have been pretty much living up to how the general highsec population views pirates, as gatecamping, lowlife scum-bag’s. The truth is that it really isn’t one of my favorite things to do, i actually find it to be a bit boring. You really can’t call 6-7 battlecruisers jumping in on that lonely ship pvp, it slaughter on a grand level.

Firstly, gatecamping isn’t the main activity of most pirating corps (at least not the ones i know or care about). Sure, most will do it now and then, but not as their main or only activity. I’m certain there might be plenty of small groups out there that do nothing else, but for most part it’s just another way for some extra isk income or if you have some newer members with you to learn the basic fleet behaviour like following FC’s order, proper Fleet Com’s, using broadcasts and all other small things that one needs to learn. And most corps also have some form of loot share programs running, in which each one on that killmail gets his share of it, so camping is just another way to quickly bump up the payout a little bit :-) Hey, i got kid’ s to feed here, and the ships wont magically start to appear into my hanger.

So, what has driven me to commit these terrible crimes against unsuspecting pilots trying to make an honest living coming into lowsec??? Well, mostly boredom i guess. Just been so terribly, terribly bored. Logged in several times all pumped up ready for some spaceship violence, just to end up feeling reluctant to even undock. So i been just doing the easiest thing possible. Start a fleet, advert you will be running a camp and go to work, and by the numbers joining up i guess there are many that have been just as bored as i have.

Have for most of the week now been really active during the US timezone, joining up for one of their regular small frigate/AF roams. Heard they have been having so much fun and lining up kill after kill on the killboards. Don’t know if it’s the peak of summer time, or maybe even all holidays are over and people are starting their work and school again but for the last 3-4 days i been joining up things we manage find to engage could probably be counted using one hand.

The camps on the other hand have been quite successful. Never will understand how anyone would ever jump in their mission fit Apoc’s, Tempests or whatever into a lowsec system without previously had it scouted by either a friendly or an alt. Won’t complain all to much here, hey it’s easy free isk for me but still… Think had at least 5 or 6 different BS caught just this last few days. What even surprises me more is how they somehow imagine they might just manage to return to the gate and don’t start shooting back until they realise it’s a lost cause, instead of immediately opening up fire on the ship you thing you might have the slightest chance of taking down with you (now that you been so incredibly stupid jumping it in un-scouted). And the list have been long. Really, really long, ranging all from noob ships and mineral full haulers to pimped up (somewhat pimped at least :-) ) battleships. And the tears, oh all this sweet sweet tears. Been called everything from cunt, to a  loser who probably got bullied on the school yard and now found a way to give back for all my youths misery by killing other in a game. :-)

We had members of Capital Storm visiting our home yesterday evening. Got Intel of them assembling a quite big fleet on the higsec side of our system. Their group was made up of around 14 ships ranging all from fleet firetails to BS. They sent in a drake to hang outside our station, hoping some of us would attack  it, at which point they would jump in their fleet and try kill as many as possible.

Unfortunately for us, at the moment we had only around 5 active pilots. Had maybe 8 or 9 showing up as online, but those were what i managed to get to jump into fleet and prepare for action. Would we get 2 more BC/BS active pilots the plan was to use the insta-undock point, warp off to a planet or a belt and try to get them coming there to play. Problem is that most of them weekend warriors wouldn’t even consider a fight under those conditions, not even if greatly outnumbering you . As long they know they have the stations and gates protecting them they are willing to commit to a fight. Otherwise it’s a no, no  . It’s like they think we might have some super powers. So there they sat outside our station calling us fail pirates and noobs.

Then… just like someone waved with his magical wand around, my alliance channels jump up by 5-6 people. “This is definitely starting to look like it might escalate into something violent ” i thought with an evil grin spreading from ear to ear  :-) One of the newly on-lined players was our Boss Gilgamesh, who seemed to just have came home from a night out. Explained the situation to him to which he replied with a “WOT, IN MY STATION???”. Not 3 second later i hear his drunken voice over TS screaming “Everyone on into a ship. Want everyone to mount their DPS boats and stand ready to undock”, after which this picture was posted in local.

My fleet window list jumped op to 10 pilots, at which point i was forced to add a second squad so that last guy also could join up. “Everyone undock now, Armageddon is primary”. He docked up even before he hit half shields, and so did each and every single of them even before i managed get a lock on them and fire at least a volley of :-(   “This is disappointing” i thought. Let’s see if they might build up some courage now while docked, and they were still outnumbering us after all, not to mention they would still have the station guns on their side. Each and single of us is and outlaw after all, and a “free for all target” at any station or gate. But nope, similar numbers fight is nothing they had in mind, and we noticed them logging of one by one. “Sigh”.. what a disappointing way to end a night. Well, they will still be docked in our station when they decide to log back on, and i’m hoping i’m online for when that happens guy’s.

Will be away for a few day’s. But hoping to come back pumped and ready for some action, so expect some fun things to write about when i get back.
