Lolion walked to the bridge of the Tengu. It was a fairly spacious area with seating for a few people behind various consoles and displays. There of course was the main chair in the center for the captain of the ship if it was being commanded by a non capsuleer pilot. Lolion could have easily used his pod to fly this ship and not needed a crew at all. But the cold liquid core of the pod that you float in when inside the pod is not much of a companion on the long space flights he has had in the past. Even if you are able to chat with your corporation friends through the com channels the human touch and seeing faces was still Lolion’s, preferred method of communication.
Lolion sat down in the chair and pushed a few buttons which spawned a even larger console and display to rise in front of him. Lolion saw on the display a layout for the entire ship presented in front of him with quite vivid detail. Lolion started up the ships plasma cores and decided to go to his quarters to drop off his bags. He turned around and noticed he had been followed by the other 7 crew members. “Ah yes I forgot to tell you guys what you need to be doing.” He said realizing his mistake. First of all I want you guys to get to know each other, look around the ship. I’m sure you can figure out what each of you would be doing.” He said looking at each one of them. If your still confused come find me in a bit, I have to go drop off my bag in my quarters. Until then get comfortable.” Lolion walked away towards the direction of the crew quarters and left the crew among themselves.
The 7 people stood there not saying a word to each other. Tibiaus Synth was one of the members aboard but he was busy typing away on his data pad to really care what everyone else was doing that moment. Among the others was a young Gallente male visibly nervous fiddling with a latch on his bag. There were two Minmatar who were standing next to each other. A tall menacing looking male with old aviator glasses that were dark enough you could only see the reflection in them. The other was a female, much less intimidating than the other though she looked poised, ready to respond to anything.
The rest were Caldari. Lolion preferred to work with Kinsmen on his ships as he got along easier with them than other races. two females and one male. The male he had worked with years ago while he served as a mercenary before becoming a capsuleer. The other two Lolion had found in the station. One was a hacker, the other a mechanic well known for her work on small station vehicles and other small items. She also was a killer shot with a rifle. The video link to the bridge to watch them as he put away his bag was telling him volumes about each of their personalities.
Tibiaus still consumed with his data pad finally put it away and introduced himself to the group. “Well since we’re all going to be working with each other we might as well get to know one another” he said breaking the silence. “My name is Tibiaus Synth, I’ll be working in the labs and running analysis of things that we find out in space.” He turned to the person next to him. The tall Minmatar male took off his sunglasses and looked around. “My name is Teodoro Bakar. I’ll be the engineer.” He put his shades back on and crossed his arms. “My name is Muna Basira, don’t mind my friend here, he’s not as intimidating as he looks.” she laughed as Teodoro blushed a bit. “He just likes to look like he’s tuff, but he’s a nice guy. Anyway, I’ll be the Medical officer. And I guess I’ll also be working in the labs on the ship too.” She said looking at Tibiaus.
Lolion noted at how well the conversations were going and was glad everyone seemed to be getting along so far. ” Lidiya Klava. I’m also a mechanic and will be working on the ship and minor systems.” She was obviously nervous and on edge like a drawn blade. Un nerved by the change of scenery She looked over to the next person in the group to speak. “I’m, uh. My name is Eva Therese” The other female Caldari said caving under the look Lidiya gave her. She blushed a deep shade of red. “I’m in charge of communications and electronics, I think.” The last person in the group looked up from the floor. Surveyed each person in the group and then spoke. ” My name is Thomas Devyn, I am a gunnery expert and I will be manning the ships gunnery systems when they are installed. I look forward to working with you all” He smiled which eased some of Lolion’s fears as he remembered that Thomas liked working more alone than with people.
Lolion had been watching everything while he was putting his bag in his quarters to gauge how well his choices of a crew would work out. So far it was working and he was eager to see how well they operated together. He walked back through the ship to the bridge again and took a seat in the captains chair. It was a multi leveled deck with a huge picturesque view. A Single pain of high strength glass served to keep space from entering the bridge, which had enough room to seat 5 at their consoles and a few others to stand around. over all a fairly decent sized bridge, nothing like the cramp quarters of a frigate.
He stretched out and looked around at the crew. “So, now that everyone has introduced themselves and we have a general idea of what all we will be doing I guess I should inform you of our first job. That is to figure out this ship and become acquainted with it because this will be our home for the next few weeks as we study these worm holes that have been popping up.” Everyone was now attentively listening eager to hear what he had to say.
“So to begin with I’ll go over for certain what everyone will be doing on this ship. Thomas is my second in command. He is an old friend of mine and I trust him to run this ship as I would in my absence. He is also in charge of the armory and the guns on this vessel, though I must admit for the most part those will remain silent as we will be exploring, not shooting things up.” Thomas scoffed showing his displeasure at hearing that. “TIbiaus Synth is in charge of research and experiments on this vessel. He is the one running this little project of ours, so any questions relating to that matter ask him.” Tibiaus stepped forward and after realizing they all knew who he was quickly stepped back and blushed a little. “I would like to thank Lolion” “Later Tibiaus” Lolion interrupted. “Your just the science lead, that is all.” Lolion regrouped his thoughts and continued on. Eva is our electronics whiz kid on board and will be handling all of our communications” He looked over and nodded at Eva who subsequently blushed again. She’s shy but once she gets past that she’ll do fine.
“Cyrus is our navigator and pilot when I’m not on the controls. He has good steady hands and is a damn good pilot.” Cyrus grinned at the compliment. “Lidiya and Teodoro are the engineers and mechanics of the ship and will be handling anything relate to it. This is a new ship so I doubt they will have much to do aside from just learning it for now.” The two looked at each other and Lolion knew there would be some sparks flying between them soon enough. Lidiya was a go getter from planet side who worked her way up to working as a mechanic in the station orbiting her planet. Teodoro on the other hand grew up in a space station and learned about engineering through a tech school. The two camps had much different views on approaching problems and if anything it would serve as a form of entertainment for Lolion to see who swung first at each other.
“Last but not least we have Muna Who will be assisting Tibiaus in the lab and also is our ships Medical officer. So Listen to her if she gives you medical advice. Saved my ass plenty of times from some close calls with death.” “wait, I thought you were a pod pilot, someone immune to death. one of the fabled “Immortals”.” Lidiya quipped. Only when I’m in my pod. granted I could re spawn if I died in general but it would be worse than death. The mind imaging wouldn’t have happened and I wouldn’t have any memories aside from what I’ve already got backed up there.” Besides, I’d rather not die, even if I am an immortal.” Lolion said back trying not to sound too pissed off at her sarcasm.
“regardless I expect your best performance aboard this ship. We have a long journey ahead of us and it will be dangerous, so get comfortable while you can. Dismissed.” Lolion then turned back to his display and noted that the plasma core of the Tengu had finally reached the level it needed for operation and he started the other sub systems. The Tengu having never been started roared to life. The last remaining dock workers had cleared the dock and the ship slowly moved towards the containment fields of the station. Lolion contacted the port authority and requested clearance to disembark. He received it and let the automated system take him out into the dark abyss.
