Maybe I Should Change the Title Now!`

Well I did it, I have left Hi-Sec, bypassed Low-Sec and thrown myself into a PVP 0.0 Corporation. Not bad for a Carebear Mission Running Caldari.

I did a few days ratting in Provi, had a look at the corps that where in the area and the attitude of their pilots and narrowed it down to a couple of Corps i liked the sound of and fired off a couple of applications.

A big shout out to all the guys in Paxton Industries for allowing me the chance to prove myself in their fleet, 4 kills and 3 losses in my first couple of days, not a huge contribution and the losses, 2 of which were mainly doing the bookmarks around the systems, should’ve used my cov-ops but oh well, learning is part of the progress.

I’m so glad I made the jump, it is a completely different game out here, and once you get over the worry of losing ships and just jump into the combat fleets it is all worth it.

A word on the alliance and the corporation that I am in, couldn’t ask for a nicer friendlier bunch.

Anyhow’s hoping I can keep contributing to their killboards, and to the changes tied up with Dominion.

Oh and finally, big props to some of the enemy, I know it’s PVP and a game, but there is so much less whinage out here than in Empire, keep on fighting:).

I’m back

I have had a nice break, still somethings hanging in the air which restricts eve time a little bit, i.e. moving house and stuff.

I’ve decided to fold my own little one man corporation up and look to join a 0.0 corporation, I think this was the one thing that was making EVE a little mundane.

Although with the changes coming in Dominion not sure I have chosen the right time to join a 0.0, oh well if you don’t dive in then you don’t succeed.

This week sees the release of EON 16, no biggy usually, it’s an excellent read, with nice glossy pages.

The biggy this month is though, after reading Zapatero’s blog I got one of my submitted screen shots published.

Hmm reinvigoration here I come, actually that might be a good name for a ship!

On the game front I’ve just been passing time raising some support skills.

I need to invest in making some isk so any people who have ideas apart from running endless level 4’s please feel free to help out with ideas!

Quiet Times

As it stands EVE is in that timeframe where, there is no new information coming out before Fanfest, all my skills that I am training across my alts are all long support skills. This leads to burn out…

Yea the feeling of not being able to do something new, or achieve something new makes it harder to stay logged in for any length of time at the moment. I think this is something that many EVE players go through.

We get a new toy or shiny, we play lots and build on our experience, we hit a plateau, take a break or slow things down until a shiny carrot comes a dangling again.

Right now my shiny is none descript, I need a lure and am just not sure what it is. I am deliberately staying away from the I did this today / that today posts as there are enough of them out there.

What do you guys do when you are in the slump? do you guys even get the slump feeling?

Having a blast in 0.0

I decided to have a bit of a drunken giggle in 0.0, I remembered my minie capsuleer and kitted him out with a cheap rifter. Now this guy had no training minimal skills and only the simplest of weapon fits.

I flew him down through to Torrinos and out into that bottle neck 0.0 system…

After jumping through to null sec I was lucky to avoid the permacamp that sits there and warped around and made a couple of safe spots. Then I decided to have some fun with the locals.

It’s amazing how many experienced pilots in ships that can technically handle a rifter easily dock up when approached, and what was even funnier was how many undock as soon as the ECM bird warps into the system and blocks all the systems on the rifter – like ants swarming over a beetle the local filled with ships that were previously docking, except this was beetles swarming over an ant with no real skills or weapons and the capsuleer really didn’t care if it was lost or not, it was seeing what the mentality is in 0.0.

Mostly the mentality is blob the hell out of everything by most of the locals, not all but most.

I know this is a snapshot and not all can be judged on this but I think it also gives an idea why carebears stick to hi-sec, unless you join an existing corp/ally that is established it’s hard to get a foothold.

Should EVE change mechanics in some way to stop blob warfare, or should the mechanics be changed to at least make the fleet blobs look more attractive. Do you look at the nice fleet shots that are the usual banners on the website and think I wish my fleets flew like that rather than just a mass if ships bumping and grinding in no real order?

I personally would love a fleet formation order but I guess it’s probably impractical – I’m no programmer but I can say what I would like.

Have fun oh and to the guys that podded me in null-sec – don’t fly to safe ;)

Production Begins

Well I decided that I wanted to diversify my EVE experience a little from the L4 mission runs and have now deployed the POS with most of the remaining Corp cash, invested in some blue prints and started researching the prints. It is a risk with the investment but then money isn’t everything and at least I can say that it is another aspect of EVE that I have experienced whether successful or not remains to be seen.

I’ve been reading some interesting Blogs over the last few days and they seem to be pushing the standards up across the EVE group, I think bar the small experience with the gamescribe issue, the community is one of the friendliest and most mature out there, long may it continue.

Right I’m off to go kill things in some mission for the State while my girlfriend talks to her mum on the phone… hours of fun then ;) .

Hi & Lows

I’ve been reading with interest on the forums the debate that is seemly raging between the low – sec pvp’ers and the hi-sec mission runners regarding risk v reward. I’d like to know what some of the blogging community think about this issue.

I guess if I am asking I should put my thoughts forward.

Personally I think Level 4’s are fine as they are, I do however think that Low – Sec ratting should get a boost and null sec a bigger boost. From my point of view most people I seem to come across missioning in Level 4’s are mostly like me, full time job, not too much time to commit going to 0.0 alliance warfare and the “alarm clock ops” definitely puts me off, I like my sleep. My time I can play is limited due to work, and a girlfriend who thinks computers should only be for skype and music.

Level 4’s enable me to have a bit of mindless fun, make some iskies to fly nice ships and generally not have to worry too much about playing.

If level 4’s were moved to Low-Sec permanently I think that would probably be the end of EVE for me, why? Well firstly sometimes I like to make some mindless isk in missions rather than mining, level 3’s would mean I have to save longer and longer to do anything I really want and that would become too much of a timesink.

On the other hand if most of the market is driven by carebear runners as the pvp squad seem to think, then surely if all these carebears had less money to spend suddenly, wouldn’t the market start to crash down to lower levels to accommodate the lower levels of income? Would this mean industrialist would make less isk per item? Would all those sexy implants suddenly become unaffordable except to a minority, until they too were worth less, would T2 and T3 feel the same effects?

I’m not an economist, but the work I do, I do know that if you take a major income stream and disrupt it or make it harder people spend less.

As it stands I think sometimes the devil you know is better.

If they really want to get more targets in low-sec then give low-sec a difference – I’m not too creative but it needs one – any ideas?

Dipping my toes

Well today I have had about 4 journeys into Low-Sec for various missions, mostly courier ones, and one combat mission for an alt to help raise Lai-Dai standings.

Nothing unusual there, although the choice of ship that was used, makes either my sanity questionable or my desire to self combust stupidly high! Yes Prime Target went into low-sec, of course the route was scouted ahead first and during the combat mission the ship was permanently aligned to the stations – with my finger hovering very closely over the dock button the whole time.

Big Bangs

Big Bangs

Well I’m off to grind some more standings.

Frankenstein – My Monster is Complete

Well, it’s done, it won’t be leaving the hanger any time soon, but the last 3 subsystems were purchased after an Orca full of loot was disgorged into Jita’s market.

Yes Prime Target is assembled and has been test flown in a safe spot against rats, and I must say if it was cheaper, it would be a hell of a ship to play with.

Looking forward to trying it some more at the weekend, the girlfriend is working so play time ahoy!

In celebration of the fact that Prime is assembled the theme has been updated – many thanks to eddie for such an excellent service.

Slack Times

A quiet time as real life took over, my parents dogs  had puppies and lets be honest, internet space ships or travelling to see the little bundle of joys. Well as you can tell the bundles won, and at a bbq today some more of my relatives have more puppies… is something trying to tell me I should invest in a pet?

On the EVE front, Prae went and had a looksee at some COSMOS missions to see if there was much difference, and found them slightly harder than regular level 4’s and had some fun. Also while looking at training queues I realised he was only 4 days of training of being able to pilot recon’s so that was queued up as a little distraction.

Need to grab some more money as I seem to be down to about 65m, so it looks like a time to grind out some 4’s to put some iskies into the bank. Once I have some more iskies I’m going to invest in some cheap frigs and clone jump and have some fun shooting pirates in low sec, and yea probably being podded and cloned lots but need to learn.

Right off to fire up my Raven Solidarity III, yea the III does mean I have lost 2 in the past, sometimes it’s the only way to learn.
