Codename “Salvation”

Begin recording Captain’s Log 1026111.2

I have found my exit. My NAV computer has labeled it Wormhole A239. I am calling it Codename Salvation. I could hear my crew celebrate as we approached the event horizon of the shimmering, fresh wormhole. Scans say that no one has found the wormhole yet, so no matter what is on the other side I should be relatively safe.

I intiated warp and entered the event horizon.

And appeared on the other side, in Slaver space. Just my luck.

Codename “Alpha”

Begin recording Captain’s Log 1026111

I’ve been lost in System J142918, codename “Alpha,” for a day now. I’ve scanned down more signatures than I can count on the hands of my skeleton crew, and all I’ve found are dead asteroid fields and gas clouds. No wormholes that lead deeper into unknown space, no wormholes that lead out back into known space. Just more and more asteroid belts.

I haven’t even seen any of these mythic “sleepers” around. Or another pod pilot for that matter. It’s just me, my ship, and the five poor idiots who agreed to come along as my crew.

Despite my crippling boredom and the fact that I want to blow something up, space out here is oddly… Peaceful. Quiet. The silence seems to envelope me as I orbit Alpha 1, the planet nearest the sun. The light from the star pierces my viewscreen from every direction. At least it seems to, though it is actually the binary star behind me that gives that illusion.

I can see how out here in the unkown reaches of space, capsuleers go insane.

End recording.

For Some Odd Reason…

I’ve decided to go Wormhole Romping.

I’m currently in the process of training for a Covops frigate and in the process of convincing someone in Ushra’Khan to let me join. I’m in between jobs, in between missions and in between Corps.

So, due to extreme boredom in the game, I’m going to explore the final frontier!

I packed up a Magnate with a ton of probes and a couple scanners, a salvager and my nifty inertial stabalizers and flew out to Dodixie to find me some holes.

After a half hour of scanning a couple of systems, I found my route to J142918, which I am naming “Alpha”. This is the first wormhole I have ever stepped foot in, so it will hold a special place in my heart…

There’s something here affecting my ship’s Systems, but I’m not sure what it is doing. There are TONs of sites in this wormhole, but I’m not nearly equiped for them. Instead, I’m trying to find a wormhole that will take me deeper into unknown space.

Anywho, I better pay attention before I get blown up. I’d like to reach “Omega” before I get the express route home!

Updates!

Just a quick update for my two readers.

This week has been hellishly busy. I’ve worked 6 out of 7 days, gotten tons of over time, and been sick. I’ve had an hour tops at any given point to do anything relaxing, so I have been unable to do much else besides change skills and advertise for CK Appreciation Day (Here!)

So sorry for the lack of posting. If you aren’t following me on Twitter, it is a good way to get updates from me when I’m busy. (@starryeyedpod) If not, just keep an eye out, i’m sure things’ll calm down soon and I can resume my celebrity-stalker blog.

Fly safe!

Two Posts in One Insomnia-Infested Night!

My last post was a little bit of a downer. So, I offer, O Reader of My Blog, this little tidbit as a pick-me-up.

Crazykinux Apprieciation Day!

You see, there’s this guy. He’s kind of a hero to me, my inspiration as a blogger and an EVE player. He’s motivated me several times to rejoin the game (His is always the first blog I check!) and his articles always keep me interested in this crazy sandbox we play in. He’s a legend among bloggers in the EVE Community and he has brought the community together on countless occasions.

His name, as you all know full well, is Crazykinux.

Well, his name is actually David Perry, but I like to think that if I ever had the immense honor of meeting him in real life, I would call him Crazykinux (After pissing myself and fainting, of course.).

Now, yes, there are other bloggers out there who have made great contributions to the blogging community. I am not saying that they are unimportant. I’m just saying the CK rocks my socks (And your socks. (And frankly, most of the blogging community’s socks)) off. And he does it with style.

That being said, I ask you, the reader, to spread the news about CK Appreciation Day.

On October 30th, I want Mr. Kinux to feel our vast appreciation for everything he does for the blogging community, from the Blog Pack (Here) to his Blog Banters (Here), from his Ship Setup Series (Here) to his Podcast, Mircowarpcast (Link To Come). I would like for as many people as possible to link this blog in their own blogs, EVE Bios, Tweets, etc.

Then, on October 30th, I’d like the entire EVE Community to send CK their love, whether it be by e-mail, comment on his site or EVEMail in game. For twenty-four hours, I want CK to be flooded with love. Sweet, sweet e-love.

You have your mission, Reader. Go forth and tell the masses.

A note: it occurs to me that Mr. Kinux thinks I’m being sarcastic when I praise his achievements as King Blogger. While my tone is light-hearted and funny, I mean what I say: CK, you are an inspiration to the EVE Blogging Community and without you, we would be no where near where we are. I truly appreciate your efforts and, I believe, so does the rest of the EVE Community.

EDIT: For those of you advertising on Twitter, here is a nifty Tiny Url I came up with: http://tinyurl.com/CKApDay

Why This Week Sucks

I bet you can guess at the tone of this post.

So, for those of you who follow me on twitter (@starryeyedpod), you know that this week has been, for a lack of a better term, a bitch. For those of you who don’t, please click the link and then click the “Follow” button. The rest of us will wait for you.

So, here’s a recap:

-Last Wednesday night, I went to bed late.
-Woke up Thursday with a massive congestive headache. My Fiance was feeling the same.
-It turned out to be Bronchitis. I now have antibiotics to take.
-Discovered a “Windows cannot start due to a corrupt Win32 file” message on my computer.
-After 8 brilliant hours with Dell on the phone, opted to reload my OS rather than wade through the BS of their customer “care” department.
-Discovered my credit card payments haven’t been getting through (Even though the money ain’t in my account…) and a debt agency is after me now.
-Reinstalled EVE to find that it won’t start. Even today, three GMs are baffled as to why.
-Can’t log into my EOHPoker profile for some reason, and cannot contact anyone in-game due to lack of EVE.
-The BIG one: (Keep in mind, this is in an entirely different league than anything else, but has very much made the rest of the week hellish) my sister-in-law miscarried her baby on Sunday evening.

So basically I’ve battled a morally, physically, mentally and emotionally shitty week.

In other news (Looking on the bright side!) I’ve come up with a new fitting and skillplan for my Wolf (Which I won’t divulge just yet, as I’m sure people out there would love to see it go pop!) which puts me at 26 days out from frigate carnage. I’m excited to fly an AF as I’ve heard only good things about them and they’ve always been a personal goal of mine.

I’ve been researching the Ushra’Khan alliance and I think I have my eyes set on the corporation “Phaze-9″. I intend to contact the CEO as soon as I can in-game and ask him a few questions. I’ve heard it’s a good corporation and from what I’ve read on Autumnn_aether’s blog, they are very active. Which is good for me.

Aside from that, life is what life is. It’s already looking up, as my day off this week (Friday) my fiance and I will be playing at Disneyland for most of the day, which is very exciting!

I hope to see you all in game soon. Pray EVE stops hating me and comes home already!

Crazy Kinux: A Crazy individual of Crazy proportions.

Crazy Kinux. Wow.

Kinux is a name that is known across the entire universe by anyone who has ever read or wrote an Eve Blog. He is the king of blogs, possibly even a god among mortal bloggers. He chats with devs and gives away free stuff. He keeps us all plugged in to the EON magazine, even if we don’t want to be. His Blog Banters are the talk of the town every month.

What I’m getting at here is that the man is a walking legend.

Well, he WILL be a walking legend when Ambulation/WiS/Whatever comes out. Until then, he’s a floating legend.

Now, Mr. Crazy Kinux is giving away free stuff to anyone who will shamelessly advertise his site on our blogs. Most people would say “That is an underhanded thing to do, My Kinux!” Some others would call him a Scoundrel for using such free advertisement to make himself heard.

I, however, am glad to talk about Crazy. (Go to his site, here!) The only question I have for you, oh Lord of the Bloggers, is this:

Why? Your name should be on fricken coffee mugs, why on earth do you need us to advertise for you? I mean, I seriously doubt ANYONE who will read my blog will have NOT heard about you. Are you basically making us all admit that you are the king of bloggers by throwing ourselves at you like high school teens at a backstreet boys concert? Do you just like to see us squirm? I’m very curious.

At any rate, so ends my Crazy Kinux Admiration post. I hope you all enjoyed it, especially you, Mr. Crazy Kinux!

P.S. Go here!

Tweetfleets, Eve Hold’Em and so much more…

I’d like to make everyone aware of a few things that I find entertaining for those long high sec autopilots and downtime blues.

First off is the Tweetfleet, a group of Tweeters (People who post updates on Twitter, for those of you who don’t know.) who tweet about, you guessed it, EVEOnline. While I am not personally a part of the Tweetfleet (yet!) there are still quite a few active and interesting posters. So head over to Yarrbear and get in on the Tweety goodness. Also, if you are bored or curious, you can follow my insane tweets here.

Next on my list of stuff to do when you run out of stuff to do is Eve Online Hold’em, an Out Of Client poker game that uses your hard earned Iskies to pay for my ships, through a clever card-based betting game that we like to call Texas Hold’Em, or as it is commonly known, Poker. The interface and deposit/withdrawl system is a little confusing, so I would advise you read thier guide before getting involved. But if you are ever mindlessly mining out an entire system, it can provide alot of time kill.

Lastly, I have an Eve fiction link found here. It is an interesting and entertaining read, especially the most recent series being posted. Give the author some feedback and props if you want to, or just enjoy it in awe-filled silence.

And that concludes my 5 AM update. I’m going to go crash in bed so I can wake up in a few hours.

Fly Safe, readers. It’s a dangerous ‘Verse still!

Venturing into the Unknown

For many, nullsec has become a predictable and almost tame environment. It is no longer the great wide unknown that it once was, with vicious NPC rats and massive fleet engagements for precious, rare minerals. Wormhole space has taken it’s place as a realm of unpredictable battles, fierce AI and ruthless pirates.

However, for some of us, nullsec is still a big, scary place.

As I type, my autopilot is taking me to Uanzin, a backwater world in a back water system that is on the edge of my new home: the Great Wildlands. I will be joining Woopatang, a group of laid back, crazy individuals who set out to carve a place for themselves in nullsec.. And have succeeded in doing so.

For these guys, huge battles and nullsec roams, gate camps and cap fleets are nothing new. I, however, am actually shaking with anticipation to fly beside some talented and experienced PvPers. What’s more, I am finally making my first step off the “learning cliff” into the Great Unknown.

And it scares me shitless.

Dreaming Big

I’ve finally been bothered to make a blog.

I’ve spent my entire EVE career reading blogs. Frankly, I’m pretty certain I spend more time reading blogs than I do playing the actual game. Don’t get me wrong, blowing the bloody bajeezus out of a virtual spaceship is fun and all.. But for me, reading about OTHER people blowing the bajeezus out of a virtual spaceship is better.

It occurs to me that the EVE Community is unique in its vast amount of blogging users (There’s a fricken site dedicated exclusively to blogging about EVE.). No other online game can boast that, I think. Even if a game comes close in the amount of blogs out there (There are quite a few WoW blogs), it can’t boast the blogger to player ratio that EVE has.

That said, there are some great stars out there in New Eden (If puns bother you, I don’t suggest you read my blog.) From the humble Rifter Drifter to the blogging God, Crazy Kinux, from the proverbial female bandit Mynxeeto loudout extraordinaire Kirith, Rambling Roc and Kadavr’s CDMs… All these huge names in the EVE Blogging Community leave me with one question in my mind…

Who am I to blog among them? I’m a nobody. A carebear gone feral who’s recently left high sec in search of bloodier pastures. I’ve dipped my toes into almost every aspect of the game but never really immersed myself into any of them, making me curious about everything and knowledgeable in nothing. It seems like the only thing I can blog about are my hopes and dreams in EVE, and my attempts at achieving those hopes and dreams.

And if that gets me at least one follower, I’m happy. If it gets me a mention in someone else’s blog, I’ll have to post even more. And if it gets me into the blogger’s big leagues, well… Let’s not dream too big. Heh.

Fly Safe, readers. It’s a big, bad ‘Verse out there.
