The safety of Goonswarm POS’s

Over the last few day I have been camping a Goonswarm Jump Bridge in A2- to shoot their haulers as they came through. I had heard about this tactic on another blog and decided to try it out. With my skills I can kill a hauler in around 20 seconds and from some tests on the test server I discovered that a POS guns will take about a minute to lock onto me and the warp scramblers will take about another 30 seconds, which gives me plenty of time to kill the hauler after it jumps. Using a this tactic I managed to kill a Iteron V, which contained a Enyo, Keres, a Ishkur and other modules which I presume where for those ships. In total a 100mill loss to him. As I couldn’t gather any of the loot I destroyed the wreak. This kill though was balanced by the loss of my Manticore. I had been warping around placing bookmarks when my cloak went offline without me noticing (I was doing some exploration with my alt) so the POS guns got me. So I went back home did some mining and bought another Manticore and was back out there the next day.
Unfortunately for me there wasn’t much activity so when a Astarte appeared on the Jump Bridge and just sat there I decided to have a go at it. Unfortunately for me he was awake and started to lock me so I warped off just as the rest of his fleet jumped through Jump Bridge. Upon warping back to the POS I saw a Iteron V warp off followed by the Astarte and the rest of the fleet. If I had of been a bit more patient I may have been able to kill the Iteron V. Soon after a Kestrel began to warp around the system. I followed it for a bit but gave up on it and went back to my shooting gallery, only to see a Cyno a lit. I flew over to it and saw that it was at the other Jump Bridge POS in system and had being lit by the Kestrel, which was being guarded by a Apocalypse. A Anshar Jumped into the system and the jumped back out followed by the Apocalypse. In a act of mercy I decided to kill the Kestrel to save him having to wait 10 minutes for the cyno to die, however he didn’t thank me so the next time I see him I will let him wait. Killing the Kestrel also answered another important question. How many volleys does it take to a kill a frigate standing still? As it turns out it is three. Shortly after I killed a Iteron IV with judging by its loadout was set up for mining…
The next Ideal target was a Crane. However as soon as locked him he went flying straight towards the POS shields at over a 1km/s. I had never seen this before and was quite surprised. Caladan09 can fly the Gallante version of the blockade runner and I own one, but I had never noticed the 5% velocity bonus per level it had. After looking at my loadout on it I saw that I had placed a microwarpdrive on there and that it could do 1200 m/s. As it was the Crane pilot made the smart decision, if he had of tried to warp I would have killed him.
The next day when I logged on I checked my D-scanner and saw a Leviathan on scan. I quickly pointed it down to a particular POS and warped there, unfortunately he was in the POS shields and I couldn’t take a few shots at him. Instead I had to make do with a the following pictures. This is the first time I have ever seen a titan up close.

After spending about 5 days in A2- Goonswarm tuned into the fact that I was trying to kill their haulers and therefore stopped coming through the Jump Bridge. As a result I have now left there space and intend to find some PvP elsewhere for a while. I headed up to Geminate and camped a gate for awhile and saw only one hauler in whole three hours and it was to far away for me to shoot. I am thinking I should try a new tactic to see if I can get some more kills. Or maybe I should try another location. Maybe camp a different gate in Geminate that is not as contested as BWF.
