The Captains Log 16/10
I have had a few requests for how to set up some ships to gank hulks. So here it goes.
The first thing and only thing you need is damage; puts as much damage potential on to your ship as humanly possible. This includes fitting the biggest guns possible to your ship and then adding as many weapon upgrades as possible. Yes I know going over three is normally not worth while, but what else are you going to put? A buffer tank you say. There is no point in that, once CONCORD is there they jam you so lasting longer is not that big of a deal. Just get out as much damage as you can. Also buy some faction ammo, you only need few rounds to last you before CONCORD gets there. Also, use blasters as they do the most damage out of all the weapons systems out there, so that generally means flying Gallante. That is the basic fit you want on any gank ship. You can then put on other modules as you need (such as points, drone upgrades, afterburner etc).
Now when using these fits make sure that you have at least two Vexors per Hulk (one may do it if it is not tanked). For the Catalyst you can get away with two (again if not tanked) but you should aim for a minimum of three. Now without further ado the setups (thanks to Daq for writing them up).

For the last two weeks I have being busy doing uni work, so I have had no time to play Eve. Come Saturday though I got on just to try the new factions ships and in particular, the Gila.

I only really tried the one set up and that was a passive tank.
High Slots
3 x Arbalest Heavy Missile Launchers
2 x Empty (didn’t know what to put here)
Medium Slots
3 x Large Shield Extender II
1 x Shield Recharger II
2 x Invulnerability Field II
Low Slots
1 x Power Diagnostic System II
3 x Shield Power Relay II
Rigs
3 x Medium Core Defence Field Purger
16 x Heavy Drones : )
After playing around with it I came to the conclusion it can fit one hell of a passive tank and do a decent amount of damage. However, flying it solo isn’t the way to do it. I ran into one couple (pictured bellow) who were by looks of it using cap transfers, remote shield repers and NOS to take down anyone who attacked them. All in all it is one hell of a nice ship. I think I might buy one for myself (after I get a Dread and then a Proteus).

I also got to see some of the new fighter bombers in action and they make some very pretty explosions. Once concern is the amount of Lag that his may cause. Also they have a hard time hitting anything that is sub capital ship, which I saw in a Stabber Fleet Issue which was tacking next to no damage from the fighter bombers as he flew around.

The Captains Log 9/8

Today is a great day; I now have a Pilgrim (thanks to Eat Bush who bought it for me, where does he get all his money?). Today is a bad day, I don’t have the skills to fit it. This is very annoying as I having looking forward to obtaining my Pilgrim and finally taking it into battle.
The fits I have being trying to use are the ones from battle clinic that use medium neuts, though I don’t quite like these setups as they are very close range (12km).
High Slots
Covert Ops cloaking device
2 x Medium Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Medium Nosferatu II
Mid Slots
2 x Tracking Disruptor II
Warp Disruptor II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitory Booster I
Y-T8 Overcharge Hydrocarbon Microwarpdrive
Low Slots
Damage Control II
Medium ‘Accommodation’ Vestment Reconstrucuter I
2 x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Rigs
Anti-Kinetic Pump I
Anti-Thermic Pump I
The problem with this setup (and similar ones) is that I don’t have the CPU to make it work (even replacing all the T2 gear with best named doest help, though it brings me closer). The only way I can lower my CPU further is to train Recon Ships V (lowers the CPU on my cloak by 100) but I don’t want to do this at the moment as it will take 26 days. So I have decided to take a different route and fit a large heavy neut, this has the advantage of being able to fit and being of significantly longer range. However, I can’t use all the modules on it yet so I have 16 days of training before I can fly it.
High Slots
Covert Ops cloaking device
Amarr Navy Heavy Energy Neutralizer
2 x Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I/ Quad Light Beam Laser II/ Focused Medium Beam Laser II
Mid Slots
Faint Warp Disruptor I
Medium Capacitor Booster II
10MN Afterburner II
Large Sheild Extender II
Invulnerability Field II
Low Slots
5 x Reactor Contol Unit II
Rigs
2 x Ancillary Current Router I
As you can see this set up requires the use of a faction Heavy Neut, this is because of power grid requirements, as beforehand I was a little over so had to substitute it with faction gear. On the plus side this increases my range up to 29km. I am also toying with the idea of replacing the Nos’s with two lasers, either Quad Light Beam Laser II (fits quite well) or Focused Medium Beam Laser II (1% over my CPU). The main reason for this is the short range of the Nos doesn’t go well with the longer range of the neut.
So my questions are:
What do you guys think of this pilgrim set up?
What skills can I train to Increase my CPU and Powergrid/decrease what modules need (I have electronics and engineering to V).
