The Captains Log 22/2

Solar System: Uknown

Shiptype: Buzzard Class Covert Ops

Well I got the two billion ISK I needed to buy POS’s, POS modules, fuel, moon minerals and even a freighter to start running some moon reactions to get a bit of a passive income stream. The next stage was finding some moons to put the POS’s on.

Scaming for ISK

The Captains Log 8/2

I need ISK. I need lots of ISK so I can expand on my industrial empire. So I sat down and thought about how I can make all this ISK and came up with a solution: Scamming. I will scam my way into two billion ISK. So I logged a alt on in Amarr and sent this message to everyone in Amarr local.

Flash Fiction 1: If this goes on

Posted by prometheus09 on January 12, 2010

This weeks flash fiction from Ecliptic Rifit is “If this goes on…”

***

Rurik lounged back in his Command Chair looking at the new arrival in his office.

“Lieutenant Korsakov, as you may know we have recently lost one of our agents in the field, which is unfortunate for us. Fortunately, though intel has managed to locate where he is going to be held, a little out of the way integration facility over in the Hamah system on planet one. So Lieutenant you job is quite simple; destroy the holding ship before it reaches the facility and end the danger our agent presents to this organisation. I suggest you do so as the transport ship prepares to dock at the facility. Here is a datachip containing the known details of the transport ships route and the estimated time of arrival. Dismissed Lieutenant”

Korsakov saluted “Sir,” about turned and strode out of Rurik’s office leaving him to think about what was to be done next.

Stealing a Charon

The Captains Log 3/10

Well we would have if we could. Acerbo, a corp mate, ran into an unpiloted Charon in Josameto on the Poinen gate. This resulted in us spamming alliance chat for someone who could fly it, with the intention of taking it as ours.

(http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/3911/20091002212637.jpg - bigger picture)

I flew Fishy Night over there in his trusty Buzzard (I had being selling plex loot in Jita) with the intention locking the Charon so no one else could board it. When I did so I got this lovely error message

21:25:13 Notify Targeting attempt failed as the designated object is no longer present.

When our Charon pilot arrived he tried to board it but couldn’t. Well that was just not cool. I have seen the same thing happen with pods before where I could scan them down and bump but could not lock them and destroy them. An obvious bug. However, when telling some of the other eve bloggers about this in the eve blogger channel (If you’re an eve blogger you should join) Ivanna Nuke said this

Ivanna Nuke > CCP Claw is bored and has spawned a Charon and is currently cloaked and dying laughing watching you.

Lol. Well that is funny.

It does remind me of another time though when some corp mates found a Hulk and Orca pilot in a belt mining. Nothing surprising there, until the Hulk pilot eject from his hulk, boarded the Orca scooped up the ore and then docked up, only to come back to the belt eject from the Orca and board the Hulk and start mining again. My corp mates were amazed at his stupidity. So they did the only thing they could do and stole the Orca.

The Captains Log 2/10

Then light shone from Logafell,

and from that radiance there came bolts of lightning;

wearing helmets at Himingvani came the valkyries.

Their byrnies were drenched in blood;

and rays shone from their spears

- Helgakviða Hundingsbana I

Today we celebrate. After much hard work, in which I have acquired lots of ISK, I have finally bought my Phoenix, which cost me 1.3 billion ISK. Of course there is still more work to do. I still have to buy fittings which will cost around 630 mill and then insure the ship, which costs 462 million ISK. I have decided to call her Valkyrie after the minor female deities from Norse mythology who decided who would die in battle and took them to Valhalla, thus the reason for the quote and the picture above.

From Eddie:

All the podlogs themes that I made have an RSS button built in. This is one I downloaded and installed and it doesnt appear to have one.

Your blog does have a feed though, its address is:

The Capatains Log 27/8

So as anyone who has being following my blog knows, I’m trying to save up to buy a Phoenix. However, as I don’t earn money very fast it is a bit problematic. So I have decided to mine all the minerals I need. The amount need can be seen in the table below (if there are mistakes forgive my shody maths).

Minerals Total Units of primary ore
Isogen

1,527,195.00

2,487,288.27

Megacyte

35,589.00

41,869.41

Mexallon

9,384,757.00

12,207,515.94

Noxium

446,171.00

526,145.05

Pyerite

23,936,240.00

19,160,499.81

Tritanium

103,341,282.00

34,412,646.91

Zydrine

79,886.00

20,873.31

I have three hulk characters so hopefully this will not take too long. What I might end up doing though is mining the high end minerals and then buying the majority of the low end minerals, as I should have enough isk to buy them. As I start getting the minerals in I can get Caladan09 to begin the production phase. Once of my corp member has a full set of the BPO’s need so ill see if can use them. If not ill have to buy a blueprint pack which costs around 300mill.

Plex

So to earn some extra isk I went on a plex today with some corp members. For the plex Hawkeye lent me an Oneiros to some logistic work with, thought our tank, flying a Hyperion, nearly died when I got caught on a gate when trying to warp into the plex. I got my reps on him when he had 20% structure left.

However, the Oneiros didn’t last long as it was destroyed when someone in the fleet triggered a mini DD insta popping it. I went and got my Raven after that, which was also nearly destroyed on a respawn when my computer froze up so I couldn’t warp out.

The plex gave us a escalation that got us nothing, unhappy about that. In the end I made about 40 mill from bounties.

When Apathy Sets In

Posted by prometheus09 on August 11, 2009

The Captains Log 11/8

I logged into EVE yesterday and had a feeling of apathy hit me as I realised there wasn’t anything I wanted to do. I needed to do something to get my blood racing. So I thought really hard about what I should do. And then it came to me.  While I had being consolidating my assets up in empire I had noticed that I had a number of assets trapped out in Geminate and Fountain from my previous homes out there. I also had a clone out in Geminate.  So it was decided, I was going to clone jump down into O2O and break my Prophecy, Fat Bird, out of Geminate. I would courageously fly right through any gate camp and blast a hole through any opposition.

Well when I got there it was a bit of an anticlimax. O2O was empty so I had plenty of time to go through my assets in station and decide what to take and what to sell. After doing that I undocked and the Fat Bird took flight.

The Fat Bird takes flight

I was really hoping that someone would try to stop me. After flying 15 jumps I had reached empire, Wildly Inappropriate had let me down. The most I had seen was 3 people in local at once. Back in the days of SMASH-Kill these systems had being teeming with people.

So I decided to try again, only this time I was going to go down into fountain and try and rescue a Zealot I had trapped down there. I remembered that the last time I was down there neutrals were able to dock at the station so I figured I might be able to do so as well. This was a longer trip in which there was a much larger chance of being intercepted by hostie gangs. So I jumped in an Impairor and began my trip. As it turned out though, the only hostile to have a go at me was a Stiletto in the destination system who failed to catch me as he was too far away from me to get a point me so I was able to get to the station only for it reject my request to dock. Ahh well. So I went to plan B and put all the assets worth something on the market and scraped the rest. I logged off for the night to continue my journey the next day.

I then begin my trip back home the next day intent on reaching the safety of Empire. However, this time there was a gate camp. My warp took me about 4 km off the gate only for me to that the campers where shooting a Myrmidon. Easy I thought; sneak past while they weren’t paying attention to me. Despite this a Sleipnir pilot was awake and made short work of my noob ship. This placed my Pod just in jump range so I scrambled to hit the jump button. However, I was unable to jump, apparently me senses were too scrambled to jump and that I would have to wait 30 seconds before I could proceed. I didn’t have 30 seconds. I was dead. Well this saved me 30 jumps and the clone I woke up in was located in a Station I wanted to move stuff out of anyway, so it saved me a bit of time in the long run.

The safety of Goonswarm POS’s

Posted by prometheus09 on July 8, 2009
The Captains Log 8/7  9:23
Over the last few day I have been camping a Goonswarm Jump Bridge in A2- to shoot their haulers as they came through. I had heard about this tactic on another blog and decided to try it out. With my skills I can kill a hauler in around 20 seconds and from some tests on the test server I discovered that a POS guns will take about a minute to lock onto me and the warp scramblers will take about another 30 seconds, which gives me plenty of time to kill the hauler after it jumps. Using a this tactic I managed to kill a Iteron V, which contained a Enyo, Keres, a Ishkur and other modules which I presume where for those ships. In total a 100mill loss to him. As I couldn’t gather any of the loot I destroyed the wreak. This kill though was balanced by the loss of my Manticore. I had been warping around placing bookmarks when my cloak went offline without me noticing (I was doing some exploration with my alt) so the POS guns got me. So I went back home did some mining and bought another Manticore and was back out there the next day.

Unfortunately for me there wasn’t much activity so when a Astarte appeared on the Jump Bridge and just sat there I decided to have a go at it. Unfortunately for me he was awake and started to lock me so I warped off just as the rest of his fleet jumped through Jump Bridge. Upon warping back to the POS I saw a Iteron V warp off followed by the Astarte and the rest of the fleet. If I had of been a bit more patient I may have been able to kill the Iteron V. Soon after a Kestrel began to warp around the system. I followed it for a bit but gave up on it and went back to my shooting gallery, only to see a Cyno a lit. I flew over to it and saw that it was at the other Jump Bridge POS in system and had being lit by the Kestrel, which was being guarded by a Apocalypse. A Anshar Jumped into the system and the jumped back out followed by the Apocalypse. In a act of mercy I decided to kill the Kestrel to save him having to wait 10 minutes for the cyno to die, however he didn’t thank me so the next time I see him I will let him wait. Killing the Kestrel also answered another important question. How many volleys does it take to a kill a frigate standing still? As it turns out it is three. Shortly after I killed a Iteron IV with judging by its loadout was set up for mining…

The next Ideal target was a Crane. However as soon as locked him he went flying straight towards the POS shields at over a 1km/s. I had never seen this before and was quite surprised. Caladan09 can fly the Gallante version of the blockade runner and I own one, but I had never noticed the 5% velocity bonus per level it had. After looking at my loadout on it I saw that I had placed a microwarpdrive on there and that it could do 1200 m/s. As it was the Crane pilot made the smart decision, if he had of tried to warp I would have killed him.

The next day when I logged on I checked my D-scanner and saw a Leviathan on scan. I quickly pointed it down to a particular POS and warped there, unfortunately he was in the POS shields and I couldn’t take a few shots at him. Instead I had to make do with a the following pictures. This is the first time I have ever seen a titan up close.

After spending about 5 days in A2- Goonswarm tuned into the fact that I was trying to kill their haulers and therefore stopped coming through the Jump Bridge. As a result I have now left there space and intend to find some PvP elsewhere for a while. I headed up to Geminate and camped a gate for awhile and saw only one hauler in whole three hours and it was to far away for me to shoot. I am thinking I should try a new tactic to see if I can get some more kills. Or maybe I should try another location. Maybe camp a different gate in Geminate that is not as contested as BWF.
